Finally I have made a start on my new allotment. After fixing up all the windbreak which surrounds the plot our first purchase was a brand new compost bin. I never imagined what a huge decision we would have to make on deciding where to place the bin.........we settled on the middle of the plot to avoid walking from one end of the plot to the other. No doubt I will get enough excerise from digging!
My first official plants to go into my allotment are blackberries which were bought from Mr Middleton on Mary Street. Backberries are one of my favourite fruits from childhood. I have fond memories of collecting these in a bucket during the month of September and my Grandmother making Blackberry & Apple Jam.
